Honors & Awards The George W. Thorn Award presented by the Brigham and Women's Hospital Housestaff, Harvard Medical School in 1985 for outstanding contribution to clinical education. In 1991 I received the highest accolade from the 1991 graduating class of Harvard Medical School, the Excellence in Teaching Award. In 1995 I was the recipient of the Robert S. Stone Award, a prestigious award given to a faculty member who is an outstanding clinician and teacher and is chosen by colleagues, housestaff and students from the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. In 2003 I was honored by being chosen as the recipient of the American Gastroenterological Associations Distinguished Educator Award. In 2009 I was elected as a Master of the American College of Physicians. Recipient of Ellis Island Medal of Honor for Exemplifying outstanding qualities in both ones personal and professional lives while continuing to preserve the richness of ones particular heritage. 2012
